How will I ever live without the Saint Martin roosters?

I'm back from my vacation with my daughter in Saint Martin. Despite the terrible headache I got during the five-hour nighttime flight, as well as the insect bite on my eye that makes me look like a real Caribbean pirate, I feel well, and I will tell you about my experiences shortly.

I would like to thank everyone who responded to my previous post. Also, thank you very much to all my new followers. I will check out the updates on all of your blogs really soon.

I missed everyone's blogs very much :)

This is the rooster that woke us up every morning. I have caught this image under our hotel balcony, at the moment of one of his arias. When I woke up at 5am on the first day because of this rooster, I thought I was imagining it. Since the island is very small, the call-and-response between different roosters lasts pretty much the entire day. I got used to it so quickly that, on the last day, I realized that I will miss it very much.

  2. Hello Olga:
How absolutely delightful and lovely this all looks. The image of the row of deck chairs, over which the orange and blue sun shades are angled, is pure magic in both its composition and the restrained use of colour [almost entirely made up of shades of blue with a highlight of the dramatic orange].

And the ragged rooster is, without doubt, a character in his own right.

We are so sorry to learn of the insect bite and of the 'nightmare' flight. London to Budapest [in less than three hours] is as much as we can bear of flying, more often than not choosing to travel for 30 hours by Eurolines bus!

  5. Is it OK if I'm just the tiny bit jealous? all that turquoise blue water, those warm tropical breezes, the palm trees and wonderful fruits.

Just kidding, please enjoy the pace, and have a wonderful Mother's Day with your daughter.

  8. Hieno Loma Sinulla...
    Kyllä kuva-sarjastakin sen voi aistia.
Äitien-Päivän Aamun pikku pakkasessa käy kateeksi aurinko varjojen alla istujia.
    Hyvää Äitienpäivää...!

  13. It looks like a most wondrous place to vacation. The blue of the water is amazing! The rooster, unlike one that is a new resident in our neighborhood, has such striking color and (this may sound strange) looks so fit. I say that because our neighbor's rooster is such a fat bird. :)

  20. Hi Happy Frog and I,
Thank you for your greetings. I'm glad you haven't forgotten me :) I feel much better, because the eye has finally taken its natural shape again.

    Hi Jane and Lance Hattatt,
Traveling is always a challenging thing. This time, we were ever so lucky to have three young men sitting behind us on the plane, who weren't quite ready to stop vacationing, and demanded some beer. This is why I have returned with a headache.

Hi The Blogger Formerly Known As,
The flight was five hours; plus the naughty boys behind us on the plane made it seem much longer. But everything was definitely worth the effort.

    Hi Angella Lister,
If it were up to me, I would never leave the shade of these umbrellas :)

    Hi Rick,
It's okay to be jealous. I still haven't quite recovered from the beauty I have seen.

  21. Hi Andras,
The holiday was absolutely wonderful. I will be happy to share some photos with you :)

    Hi Cheryl,
Thank you for the offer about the rooster. I don't think he'd be quite comfortable on my small balcony :) The water is really turquoise in colour.

    Hi Eko,
lomat olivat unohtumattomia. Yritän tottua ero tässä maailmassa ja että maailmassa. Olen edelleen toipumassa kauneimmista paikoista olen nähnyt.

    Hi Brenda,
The colours that you would find in the Caribbean, and their combinations, are something you will never see in any other place. As an artist, I was overwhelmed.

    Hi Richard,
Les vacances étaient inoubliables. Je suis en train de s'habituer à la différence entre ce monde et ce monde. Je suis pas encore remis des beaux endroits que j'ai vu. L'artiste en moi a été profondément affecté par ces lieux.

  22. Hi Wong,
Thank you very much. I will be pleased to share my photos from the trip with you.

    Hi Pierre,
Je vous remercie pour vos aimables paroles. Les vacances étaient merveilleuses. Je prépare quelques nouveaux postes.

    Hi Duncan D. Horne,
All the colours I have seen in the Caribbean were stunning. They were pretty much unreal.

    Hi Lydia,
The rooster's friend, the hen, was really nervous; she kept running around, and I couldn't capture a photo of her. The colour of the water is really turquoise; when you're swimming, you have this magical feeling.

    Hi Dianne,
I'm still shaking the sand from my shoes...I'm somewhere between the Caribbean and Toronto, mentally.

  23. Hi Peter,
Thank you, dear friend. I'm preparing a report about my journey, which was amazing.

    Hi Lena,
How lucky you are! Roosters always at your service? :) I hope you will enjoy my upcoming posts.

    Hi chaillrun,
E 'vero - ci sono così tante impressioni. Tali mondi diversi, Toronto e dei Caraibi. Sto ancora riprendendo da tutti i colori e le impressioni.

    Hi Ola,
The island is quite real. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Nature is really overwhelming there.

    Hi M@risa,
I have some previous experiences with Caribbean islands...I have to say that Saint Martin is really special.

  24. While I am not a beach person it does look like a nice place. I love the photo of the dog and the boat.

  25. Hi Randy,
I would qualify as a beach person, because I love to swim. I also love walking around until I'm completely exhausted :) Thank you for your compliment.

  26. It looks like such a beautiful and carefree place!
The description about the supermarket made me giggle. The dogs under the car and boat made me smile. Oh, I want to visit. I love water! I'll fit in :)
I hope you and your daughter continue to have lovely days!

    LOVE!
