We Had a Real Summer Thunderstorm
Last night, in Toronto, we had a real summer thunderstorm. With the kind of mythical thunder and lightning that woke everybody up at 4am. It was the sound of the summer season. Strong gusts of wind shook the curtains and rattled parts of the window, and our cat, who is convinced that every even in the universe is directly related to him, couldn’t calm down for the longest time.
This thunderstorm left me without a doubt that a wonderful time of the year has come. I need to get my act together and make sure I don’t miss out on all the advantages of the season.
I would like to thank everybody who commented on the previous post. It was really important for me to find out your opinions and experiences. It helped me figure out certain things. For example, even the fact that I need to add one more thing to my list of social roles – blogger. The greatest advantage of this role consists in the fact that I can share my thoughts and doubts with my friends, who are also involved in this kind of activity.
This leads me to the question that I would like to ask. Being the bookworm that I am, I can’t calm down until I read every book on blogging that I can get at the library. Would you like it if I wrote some book reviews? Maybe not reviews per se, but an overview of the kinds of advice the authors give?

Hello Olga:
ReplyDeleteThunderstorms with HAILSTONES have been the order of the day in Budapest. Yes, it does seem as if summer is coming in with a bang.
And, what summery images you capture here. As we hurtle towards the longest day, one becomes conscious of the fleeting nature of the season and so it is, as you say, good to get the most out of it whilst it is here.
Your idea to do an overview of books on blogging is an excellent one. There is so much good advice out there but how wonderful it would be for all the gems of information to be gathered together. But always what we love about your own very varied blog is the way in which it is so personal to you. And this comes over time and time again, coupled with the most marvellous images.
I love a good thunderstorm. I like the idea of sharing the blogging advice you pick up in your reading. Great summer shots.
ReplyDeleteOlga, I do not know much about blogging. I have little experience. Your blog is nice. Your last photos are really entering into the summer. The most beautiful time of year. Always wonder why I live in the places where the heat is such a short time. Our cat is afraid of thunderstorms. The past, which we, the lightning went even look at the window. Many greetings. Peter.
ReplyDeleteHello Olga..:o)
ReplyDeleteFresh and beautiful photos,we had this weekend in south of france a great thunderstorm with a lot of rain...maybe we have a cold summer this year..your photos are full of joy and life..and light..:o)
thank you..:o)
The photos are very nice Olga!
ReplyDeleteBeing a new blogger, I would love to hear about your findings regarding blogging advice!
ReplyDeleteGreat posts!

Like Tim, I love a good thunderstorm too.
ReplyDeleteNice pics and thanks a lot for your visits in my space.
Kisses from Brazil dear friend
I don't like thunderstorms, so I would be with your Denis hiding I think! Your photos have captured a summer feeling. Personally I love the spontaneity of blogging, as a way of expressing creativity. Your blog is an outstanding example of this, how you uniquely express yourself. I love your blog just the way it is, if you don't mind my being totally honest with you.
ReplyDeletei'd love some book reviews/overviews, that would be interesting!
ReplyDeleteand that toronto storm sounds heavenly...i love storms like no other!
I love thunderstorms, I always have. And I'll love your book reviews too.
ReplyDeleteso many great shots again! thunder and lightning is very rare where i live, but this year is unusually cool, topped off with a few tornados last week... lightning always meant fire here, but we are still green, must be nice to never have to worry~
ReplyDeleteI could use a good book and would appreciate any suggestions!
ReplyDeleteHi Olga
ReplyDeleteSince I am still relatively new at this blogging thing, I have a problem as to where I wish my blog to go. I don't know if mine should be like a daily journal, or what! I like your blog because of your artistic talent that you have. I wish I could see life like you do through the lens of your camera. My view of life is from a totally different perspective. Any little tidbit that you pickup through some books that you have read on the subject will help me to enhance my experience with blogging. And would be greatly appreciate for any advice offered.
I have not experienced a good thunder storm in the five years since we have been here. I sort of miss them.
Cheryl
It is difficult to make a living blogging. Overtime you will make changes in how you do things and the path you will take. I have been doing this for over two years, love it, and will never stop. You will have fun and it will all work out. Also you will make wonderful friends around the world!
ReplyDeleteHello Olga,
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos as always!
But today I highlight the first - the one with the jewel-like drops of water!
Congratulations
Olga !
ReplyDeleteWhen the storm is over, it is always beautiful !
Yes, would love some book reviews or even insights of your readings of a books !
Marvelous walk after the storm...
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for sharing Olga...
Greetings from France,
Pierre
Tes photos sont magnifiques et certaines sortent vraiment de l'ordinaire.
ReplyDeleteBravo Olga!
gorgeous pics!
ReplyDeleteregarding your previous post: seriously, how infantile of them. I don't think this should put you off blogging. I feel certain people are just 'closed off' to the world, encased in their own bubble of resentment or sense of superiority. Let it slide, I find most people are gracious and kind about the whole blogging thing. If they were rude to you, I bet they're rude to other people in their lives, not just bloggers :) Seriously, they need some perspective, and to get over themselves.
wonderful pictures, as always. I would love to read your reviews on that subject
ReplyDeleteWonderful images dear Olga, I look around my area but rarely see anything apart from some flowers and forest that I would like to photograph, but I shall keep looking.
ReplyDeleteI love thunderstorms in Summer, we had an electrical storm earlier this week, the sky looked spectacular but hardly any rain ... my cats aren't fond of storms either.
xoxoxo ♡
I love thunderstorms. And I love your first two photos. Nice.
ReplyDeleteBlog on girl. You get to be you and share your take of the world -- you've got a great eye and beautiful mind. (As for me, no "advice" from others please. Just you.)
xo,
Rick
Оля, фото чудесные. Чистота необыкновенная.
ReplyDeleteА книжные обзоры - это интересно. Ведь невозможно за всем уследить. Через обзор можно натолкнуться на нужную книгу.
Great pictures, excellent texture and beautiful tones. My favorites are the first 2 with that grand approach, and especially the water droplets of the first. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteI love thunderstorms! And yay for summer - I'm glad it's finally reached Toronto. My friends there tell me it's been quite cool and grey.
ReplyDeleteI´ve been expecting a real thunderstorm for at least 2 days now since it has been so hot, but so far no luck. I love how fresh the air gets afterwards. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Jane and Lance Hattatt,
ReplyDeleteLuckily, the thunderstorms happened at night, but for two days in a row. We've been waking up from thunder and strong rainfall. I'm glad you approve of my idea about the reviews. I promise (to try) not to be boring :)
Hi Tim,
With or without thunderstorms, I'm just so glad that summer has finally come to Toronto. We almost lost all hope :(
Hi Peter,
I'm glad you're blogging again. I hope you feel better after the sad events that happened in your family. It seems that our cats have a lot in common :)
Hi clo,
South of France sounds like heaven. I hope you had a great time with all the beauties that that country can offer you.
Hi Sérgio,
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed my summertime photos.
Hi The Girls Three Doors Down,
ReplyDeleteThank you for following. I would love to visit your blog as soon as possible, and I hope you will enjoy my reviews in the future.
Hi Gisa,
I always enjoy visiting your blog. Hooray for modern technology that allow me to read your wonderful writing!
Hi Dolly,
Maybe you were a cat in the past life after all? Thunderstorms are wonderful when you're in a safe place with nice people :)
Hi Krystal,
I have a friend who despises thunderstorms because he is a sailor. He experienced so many in extreme conditions. How silly is that? :)
Hi Pet,
Thank you for the encouragement. I will await your reaction to my reviews :)
Hi once in a blue moon,
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm REALLY terrified of is tornadoes. Although I've never seen any where I live. My imaginations makes them seem awful.
Hi Nikki,
I wouldn't really hope for one good book on blogging. Of all that I've read, I took something from each, and discarded the rest.
Hi Cheryl,
You're not alone. I have the exact same problems. I find that maybe our type of blog - where we write many spontaneous things - should be allowed to lead their own lives, as we write whatever we want. However, I don't think that little tips would hurt.
Hi R. Jacob,
I tend to feel like gathering information about a certain activity can sometimes help in unexpected ways.
Hi Antonio,
Thank you for your compliment. You always support me in regards to my photography. I really appreciate that.
Hi Wong,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you support my idea about book reviews. I've found some interesting moments that I wouldn't mind sharing.
Hi Pierre,
Thank you very much for your kind words. I've enjoyed your last post very much.
Hi Richard,
C'est merveilleux que vous avez apprécié mes impressions d'été. Je suis heureux que l'été est venu au Canada après tout.
Hi hila,
Thank you for your support. I like the way you've described the situation with those people. I will keep that tip in mind.
Hi Ola,
I hope you will find it interesting :) I've been interested in it for a while, and I've found some useful tips.
Hi Dianne,
ReplyDeleteI think that your blog has a certain appealing quality, having to do with your poetry and your photos. It's a certain softness that is very healing.
Hi Rick,
I'm glad to see you're back! Advice from me would be a little too conceited, because I haven't been posting very long. I'll try to come up with something :)
Hi tattina,
Совершенно верно. Прочитать всё, что хочется не удаётся. У меня есть, правда, одно преимущество - я бысто читаю.
Hi Leovi,
I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. I tried to convey my fascination with the summer.
Hi Talli,
I just can't believe that summer is really here. Cold and greyness have just about driven me crazy in the last little while.
Hi tinajo,
Waiting for the thunderstorm is not a very comfortable thing.
Yes! Fresh the air is what we need now:)
Greetings from Thessaloniki, Greece Olga!!
ReplyDeleteI am astonished by your blog!!!
Your photos make me travel with my imagination, they are so vivid and colorful!!
Well done!!
I especially adored your photos from Paris...
I am a big fan of yours!!
Keep up the good work!!! :D
Yes, do write some reviews ... but keep on with the photographs - these are just wonderful (as are your accompanying words) quite amazing, and it brings me closer to Canada, about which I know so little. You provide a small key hole through which I can peep.
ReplyDeleteI loved looking at your pictures - you are very talented! I would find it interesting to read your take on blogging books. Actually I would especially like to know what people think about taking and posting pictures of a stranger (or a stranger's house) without permission.
ReplyDeleteπολύ ωραίες οι φωτογραφίες....ζωντανές...μπράβο!!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are superb!!!! wow
ReplyDeletethe fotos are stunning
ReplyDeletegreetings from Germany
Gina
We've had some dramatic thunderstorms recently too. I always wonder if I should unplug my computer and tele.
ReplyDeleteCatching up after the wedding weekend, interesting post about blogging it does seem we bloggers are considered some sort of special breed. I also find that those of my friends that do not blog find the species hard to understand.
ReplyDeleteWe have had rain and thunderstorms every day this week, lovely photos as always Olga.
Ciao Olga,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting :) I have the most wonderful memories of visiting Thessaloniki.
I get so shy hearing that I have a fan. How about let's be friends? Thank you for your lovely comment.
Hi aguja,
I keep on re-discovering High Park, the city of Toronto, and Canada in general every day. I'm glad you like it.
Hi Masha,
If it would be helpful to you, have a look at this blog:
http://www.legalandrew.com/2007/10/11/photo-law-your-right-to-take-pictures-in-public/
I think it provides a good answer to your question.
I feel like a photo always needs to be flattering if I post it. And if anybody sees themselves on my blog and lets me know they don't like it, I would take it off at once.
If you're not quite satisfied with the extent of my response, and/or would like to hear feedback from some readers, feel free to contact me by e-mail, and we'll discuss it.
Hi Irida,
Σας ευχαριστώ! Το σχόλιό σας είναι πολύ ενθαρρυντική.
Hi Colores,
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed them :)
Hi Gina,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I try my best :)
Hi Sarah,
I'm concerned about it too. Unfortunately, I haven't found a conclusive response to this problem. Everyone only tells me not to use the microwave during a thunderstorm :)
Hi Lindy,
It's bizarre, the friends that don't have blogs :) They really look at me like I'm from another planet.
Hi Domus,
Infine, l'estate è qui in Canada. Che rende possibile per me ad impegnarsi maggiormente nella fotografia diversi. Grazie per la visita!
Dear Olga
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are very nice.
We have had rain every day this week. It's cold in Switzerland.
Hugs Yvonne
Hi Happy-Sonne,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. That's a big compliment coming from you:) We also have rain and thunderstorm every night.
We had a thunderstorm in Central Illinois last night! It was scary, and amazing!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are absolutely beautiful!
And I do love the review in your latest post!
LOVE!
I really enjoyed your beautiful photos!! I too like a good thunderstorm. Blessings, Monika
ReplyDeleteHi tywo,
ReplyDeleteStorms - you either love them or you hate them. I'm glad we share a love for them :)
