The Google Art Project

I am very exited to share some wonderful news with you - although you might already know this. The Google Art Project offers gigapixel images of art classics - an indoor Street View of museums.

You can find it right here.

This is absolutely awesome! You can take a trip through some famous museums. I hope they add The State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia and Tretyakov State Gallery soon.

What do you think?

  1. I've tried, but when I wanted to touch paintings, I have just touched the screen of my computer ! :-))
    But it is a détail...

  7. Hi Happy Frog and I ,
This project makes me happy just thinking about how many of these beautiful paintings I can see now, even virtually.

    Hi Sérgio Pontes ,
It would be great to have the opportunity to "visit" European museums here in Canada :)

  15. Thanks Olga, no I didn't know about it and have just been to check it out! You have mentioned the Tretyakov and I hope it is included soon. A few years ago the Royal Academy in London had an exhibition entitled "From Russia" which included works from the Tretyakov, the State Russian, the Hermitage & Pushkin. I spent hours in the exhibition! I had never seen works by Ilya Repin or Mikhail Nesterov, or Tatlin before so it was a wonderful introduction.

  16. Hi Cristina,
Sono contento che ti piaccia. Quale occasione remarcable!

    Hi Diane,
Please, don't forget to take some sandwiches with you. It might be exhausting :)

    Hi Sarah,
You are welcome! I always find myself dreaming about visiting all these wonderful museums.

    Hi Lindy,
I completely agree with you :)

    Hi joanny,
With "real thing" I prefer to visit gallery or museum just for one painting. Instead of rushing around with the crowds of tourists.

    Hi tywo,
I wouldn’t mind having bigger screen right now:)
    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Hi aguja,
I can’t get my eyes off of those treasures.
Thank you so much for the comment!
