I am very exited to share some wonderful news with you - although you might already know this. The Google Art Project offers gigapixel images of art classics - an indoor Street View of museums.
Interesting world we live in -- thanks for this reminder,,,agree with about the other sites as well,,, but there is nothing quite as thrilling though seeing them up close and personal.
have a lovely week end, now I can go to the museum today while I work from home...
Thanks for sharing. I just clicked on it, and the first painting has such a great texture, I want to touch it :) Olga, thank you for your kind words. Have a lovely weekend.
Thanks Olga, no I didn't know about it and have just been to check it out! You have mentioned the Tretyakov and I hope it is included soon. A few years ago the Royal Academy in London had an exhibition entitled "From Russia" which included works from the Tretyakov, the State Russian, the Hermitage & Pushkin. I spent hours in the exhibition! I had never seen works by Ilya Repin or Mikhail Nesterov, or Tatlin before so it was a wonderful introduction.
Hi Dolly, How are you, dear friend? It seems like you're still busy. I assume that you are still in London. Thank you for commenting though. There is something so nostalgic in your words:)
Great project. The quality of the images is outstanding. Found you through our mutual friend, The Blogger Formerly Known As. Glad to connect :)) ~Michelle/Poetic Justice
I've tried, but when I wanted to touch paintings, I have just touched the screen of my computer ! :-))
ReplyDeleteBut it is a détail...
Do you usually touch paintings in the museums?
ReplyDeleteDo you....:)
Yes, of course even when the alarm ringing.
ReplyDeleteI can stand not to leave my touch .

Hi Sérgio Pontes ,
It would be great to have the opportunity to "visit" European museums here in Canada :)
Grazie per il link e trovo che è un'idea bellissima! Ora vado a fare un giretto in un museo! ;-) Ciao Cri :-)
ReplyDeleteOlga thanks so much for this link it is amazing. Now I am going to find time to do the daily chores in between touring the museums. LOL Diane

ReplyDeleteSono contento che ti piaccia. Quale occasione remarcable!
Hi Diane,
Please, don't forget to take some sandwiches with you. It might be exhausting :)
Hi Sarah,
You are welcome! I always find myself dreaming about visiting all these wonderful museums.
Hi Lindy,
I completely agree with you :)
Hi joanny,
With "real thing" I prefer to visit gallery or museum just for one painting. Instead of rushing around with the crowds of tourists.
Hi tywo,
I wouldn’t mind having bigger screen right now:)
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hi aguja,
I can’t get my eyes off of those treasures.
Thank you so much for the comment!
