Between blue and green

I really like the shades between blue and green. In the summer, they stir the imagination and remind one of wonderful Caribbean vacations. I think about those quite often, because, over the last little while, I've had to repair quite a lot of things in my house, and completely change even more. The renovations continue, and the Caribbean, at the moment, is something to dream of.

Oh, the Caribbean, I anticipate our next meeting, and I'm sure you are too!

Despite all that, some of these photos have been taken in Toronto. Some even today.

I didn't stylize this photo at all. There are some moments in life when you just see the beauty in very simple things. When my daughter pours herself some tea, arranges a few pieces of cake on a platter, and tells me "I'm emulating you right now," I'm smiling.

However, when you want to take a photo, sometimes real life happens.

Nothing can happen in this house without Deniska's inspection.

  2. Hello Olga:
We are in awe of this post, not simply because of the excellence of the images but more so for the exceedingly clever and imaginative way in which they are linked one with another through the use of the same blue-green which becomes a recurring theme. And to have all been taken close to home is additionally wonderful.

  9. I'm glad Deniska gave the bowl of cherries his seal of approval. The colour must have helped. That turquoise is lovely. I saw rivers of the same shade in Austria a couple of weeks ago. Marvellous they were too.

  10. Hi Olga, the colour you are portraying - turquoise - has an unpleasant memory for me. My mum used to feed me a turquoise colour food named 'bubble and squeak' and I hated it!

  13. I call that colour turquoise. I read a book which dealt a lot with the way we perceive and understand colour and many people would consider it either to be blue or to be green. We actually have rather imprecise words for describing colour. I love turquoise with either blue or green of a different shade.
Those cherries looked amazing, but that's just my greedy nature :)

  14. Beautiful post illustrated with my favourite blue-green colours. Thanks to you, Olga, I have been reading Johannes Itten's theories on colour, and I am pleased to see you return to the theme of colour.

Of course, any post in which Deniska makes an appearance makes it perfect.

  15. Hi,Olga.
I read your beautiful post in the sweltering weather here in Japan. Your summer makes me feel cool and reminds me of my favorite music CARIBBEAN BLUE by Enya.

  23. These blue-green colors do remind us of warm climates. You can see these colors in Florida too, or even in Tunisia, North Africa. The Caribbean right now is being battered by strong storms – it is the place to go in the fall or winter. Your cherries with the cat picture is so sweet, and the cherries look yummy.

  25. Hello, Olga. I really like it when you drop by. I am enjoying the photos on this post and I'm secretly jealous that you're leaving for the Carribean.

Sometimes, the most photographic moments happen when you don't have your camera too.

  26. What a gorgeous series of photos as always Olga. You may not get to travel to the Caribbean at the moment but at least you can enjoy virtual travel thanks to the internet. :)
