How to Spice Up Your Husband's Life

After Saint Valentine, having worked so hard and lost all common sense, flew away to relax at an angelic spa (with meditative music, fragrant flowers, soft white robes and cleanliness), real life has claimed back its rights. One of the common elements of real life is actions, which you may regret, either later on, or immediately after carrying them out. Some of these actions can be classified as the easiest methods for getting on your husband's nerves. They include, but are not limited to:
1. Secretly knitting him this trendy sweater, and making him wear it in public.

2. Secretly knitting yourself a trendy sweater too, and wearing it to your movie night.

3. Getting together with your friend, grandmother, coach, or acquaintance from the book club, and doing something unexpected and absurd.

4. Start mastering a style of dance you've never tried before, and demonstrate your skills constantly to your husband, with the implication that you're already quite good at it.

5. Surprise your husband with the purchase of a new pet.

6. Greet your husband after he arrives home from work in an elegant outfit, complete with a good mood, and, of course, a dance

7. Maybe you could even make the spontaneous decision to remodel your kitchen. No, not simply to redecorate it - that would be easy, and not at all exciting. What you need to do is remodel it completely. For instance, you could do this. Naturally, you need not mention anything before your husband leaves for work in the morning. Surprise!

All photos, except for the last one, have been found around the Internet. The last one is directly from my kitchen.

  1. That dance video is truly extraordinary. I kept waiting for one of them to trip over or drop her. I mean, REALLY bizarre! At first I thought the suggestion to learn a new dance applied to the photo above

Ah, but the kitchen is missing those homely touches, like some food in all those little cupboards!

    Great post! :D

  2. Extrangely, of all things, remodeling the kitchen seems the least crazy.

  5. Olga dear this is a fun post, you made me smile.I would love to go to a spa for some much needed pampering. If I could remodel my kitchen I would, mine has definitely seen better days, yours will be beautiful when it is all new.
The dance video is so much fun, perhaps if I had greeted my husband wearing an outfit like hers and I was as flexible then I would still have a husband. :)

  8. Olga, you brought me a good laugh! I’m amazed how you come up with such ideas which are all funny and cheerful. I’d like to be out of my character and make merry with a little stupid.

This is a true story and is really not a matter of laugh. When one of my husband’s colleagues gets back home from work, the home was almost empty, all the furniture and things are gone except his personal belongings. Later a divorce paper reached.

  9. Very funny Olga. Loved the tongue-in-cheek post. Your husband is a lucky man! A good sense of humor is probably the best gift you could give him! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  10. Love all the absurd stuff. It's refreshing to look at crazy stuff.

I notice your kitchen has a remarkable number of bottles of water, but no wine... Did you hide them all away? :)

  17. Years ago, my husband worked 12 hour shifts. He left home by 6 am and was home by 7.30 pm. As soon as he walked out the door, I primed, and painted our kitchen, and put it all back together, and had supper ready for him at 7.30 pm. I worked like a dog that day!!!!

Enjoyed your post today!! You will have your kitchen the way you want in no time at all!!

  19. What fun! Had I been in abject misery, I would have had to climb out of it. This is humour at its best .... but it reminds me of the day my husband returned home to discover that I had found some extra space .... I had removed a wall!!!

  22. What a fun post. "Start mastering a style of dance you've never tried before, and demonstrate your skills constantly to your husband, with the implication that you're already quite good at it." This had me laughing out loud - Olga! You have a nice cupboard space. Have a great weekend in your new home. =)

  23. OMG that is too funny. During some construction we were doing I waited for my husband to go back to work (in camp)before asking the contractor to take out two walls. He he he

  24. Ooooh, I cannot stop laughing!! Olga, you can be a genius scriptwriter of a comedy. I love all of them, but No.1 sounds me good. My husband is typical Japanese man. He did not notice when I changed my hairstyle. I need something drastically changed for him.
