The Details of Everyday Life (Toronto edition)

If you live by the Louvre or the Colosseum, it must be easy to take a beautiful photo at any given moment. But even if I lived near some magnificent mountains or beautiful old buildings, I would definitely try to capture the joy in the little details of everyday life.

Such moments and objects can pass by pretty quickly if you don't pay attention. Each of them can be interesting on their own because of their transitory nature. I suggest dreaming now - why not? Whenever I see that yellow dog, I say, "Hello, yellow dog!"

I hope you enjoy my selection of details from the moments of my everyday life.

  1. You have a gift at catching those details. My ADHD gets in the way. Thanks to you- I can see them. Brilliant photos. I especially love the butterfly against the cement.

  2. Amazing photos Olga. I love the Squirrel sign!

  3. Olga, I agree. Life is composed of details. It is the foundation of all that surrounds us. It is often not even perceive. Do with me as you have seen and captured. There is a lot of them beautiful. Have a nice day! Peter.

  4. Loved seeing all these details through your eyes, Olga. My favorites: the Yellow Dog (of course,) and the "Cirque du Poulet". Really cool name for a circus, and what a great ringmaster: Coq-au-Vin no less. Great shots. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  5. Hello Olga:
Such an artistic eye you have and what magnificent miniature art works you offer us here. Seeing is one thing but LOOKING is quite another and how easily in the frenetic rush of a day one can miss these many jewels of everyday life.

Is the car running on the new bio fuel, we wonder and is the 'Chicken Circus' a metaphor for Toronto Life perhaps? As always, Olga you enable us to see things with fresh eyes and to dream....!!!

  6. Another wonderful set..........I hate cities but do love Street Art. Thank you.

  7. It is in your eyes, you know it!
    Thanks for sharing

  9. It's quite easy to see everyday images in real life but not observe them. Bringing such images to our attention I think helps us observe the world around us more effectively.

    Love the yellow dog.

  10. one can find beauty wherever he is, just should look carefully, as you did!

  11. There are too many to choose from this time, all fighting to be number one in my eyes!

  13. What a joy to view your "moments." You've got a great eye for the beautiful details of life. Love 'em all.
(And to think about the stories behind each one . . .)

  14. I wonder about the story behind the car planted as a garden. Thought-provoking photos!

  15. How do you manage it, I must walk around with my eyes closed, I never see exciting things like this in every day life. Fantastic photos, Diane

  17. Fabulous details! Your eye appreciates fun and unique items :)

  18. Gorgeous. I love seeing the city through you! It's like a whole other world.

  19. Hello, Olga

Your work is embraced in your gentleness.
The internal vitality is just life.

    Have a good weekend.

    Greetings and hug.
    From Saga, Japan.

  20. 'beauty is in the eye of the beer holder', ha, that's classic olga. Great snapshots of the everyday, I particularly love the butterfly one.

  21. Olga these are wonderful detailed images. We have spoken about this before, but it is so reassuring to find in your blog that you are someone who also loves the tiny details of life. I know if we ever go exploring with our cameras we will be out for hours if not days!! By the way, would it surprise you if i said Door 867 Dream Now is my favourite image? I didn't think could well be my own front door I'd say!

  22. As always Olga, great shots. I have an award for you in my latest post.

  23. Hi Sandy,
I had to learn to see a variety of details in the everyday life when I observed famous examples of photography while learning. I suppose my eye has also been trained by my other artistic pursuits. Thank you for your compliments :)

    Hi Randy,
The squirrel sign is very cute. And the coffee there isn`t bad either! Thank you :)

    Hi Peter,
It`s easy to see something grandiose and be marveled by it, but that`s not possible for everybody every day. However, beauty doesn`t go anywhere, and it doesn`t just concentrate in specific places. It is always with us :)

    Hi Veronique,
Ringmasters are cool in general. They need great personality, or just be very professional. I`m glad you liked Cirque du Poulet and the dog :)

    Hi Jane and Lance Hattatt,
Toronto life brings its own surprises and joys. At times, it can be like a Chicken Circus :) Especially in the Spadina area, where I took that photo.

  24. Hi Adrian,
Toronto is a strange city; High Park is in the middle of it, but it doesn`t feel like it`s a city. Thank you for visiting :)

    Hi Pet,
I have a fear - what if all these exciting things disappear one day? Everything will be painted the colour grey.

    Hi Richard,

    Hi Sarah,
Along with visual things, I also collect verbal curiosities. For example, a little girl says to her mother - "Wait, wait! Do you know this word, 'wait'?"

    Hi Ola,
It's clearly visible in your blog; you approach the beauty around you with care and attention.

    Hi R. Jacob,
I'm glad you enjoyed my selection so much :)

  25. Hi Nadya,

    Hi Rick,
You're absolutely right. Behind every image, there is a story. Sometimes they're happy, sometimes they're sad.

Hi My Little Home and Garden,
This car is located in our well-known Kensington Market, which is full of interesting characters - hippies, hipsters, and people who just like to shop in unique stores. I don't know the story of how the car got there, but it also happens to be very interestingly painted.

    Hi Diane,
I really enjoy the tranquility that your photos radiate. I think that what is captured in photos depends on the person's point of view and the energy of the place where you live.

    Hi versus,

    Hi T. Becque,
It's a big compliment from a photographer as talented as you :)

  26. Hi Talli,
Thank you. Toronto has been changing for the better, and that makes me happy. More subjects for photography :)

    Hi ruma,
Thank you. I appreciate your visits, and I'm glad you enjoyed my post :)

    Hi hila,
I'm glad you enjoyed my selection of everyday insights :) It was an experiment with the moments of my life. The city is not without the fragile beauty of butterflies.

    Hi Dolly,
I'm so glad you have commented today. I was wondering how you are doing. I'm convinced that, one day, we will have a photosession someplace, and we will laugh till we cry :)

    Hi artebaiao,
Thank you for visiting. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

    Hi Tim,
Am I worthy of such an award? :) Anyway, thank you for your thoughtfulness. I really appreciate your visits.

  27. What an artistic eye you have, Olga :) you've captured so many details that most of us wouldn't even notice. have a great weekend!

  28. But only one great eye. The other one I don't like so much.

  29. These are wonderful photos. Just the kind of thing I like to notice too. I specially like the car with the flowers growing out of it, and the door saying Dream Now. Toronto is a nice city, it's years since I have been there and seeing your pictures makes me want to go again.

  30. Love the details of your life. That dream now on the blue door is just great. I would love to walk by that every day as a daily reminder.

  31. Olga, this is a stunning array of lovely and interesting selections from your everyday moment. I wonder if the car with plants really runs? All your photos are with “artful nuance” and my favorite this time is the last one (though it's very hard to choose one). Toronto is a lovely city. Enjoy your weekend.

  32. Love these pics Olga, they are so colorful and fun! Carpe diem is the real deal. :-)

  33. Olga, thank you for these exellent photos! I enjoy every one! but I loved the garden car!!!It's fantastic! kisses from "crying" Greece.

  34. I see that you have not any prize! Maybe it is your choise. I will be happy, if you want to put a Nymph from my blog, on your blog, as prize of quality beauty.Nymph can gives to you, anything you want!kisses.

  35. Hi Marisa,
Thank you. I think that our lives consist of details. It only depends on us to be able to notice and appreciate them.

    Hi Fabio,
Thank you. I enjoy original things, and tend to take pictures of them :)

Hi The Kid in the Front Row,
Thank you for your visit, and your kind words about my photos. I don`t consider myself a photographer; I just love to share some interesting moments from my life with my readers :)

Hi The Kid in the Front Row,
Hey, what`s wrong with my other eye?! I know I'm asymmetrical, but, in this day and age, it's considered quite normal. Only Greta Garbo's features were perfectly symmetrical.

    Hi Jenny,
Toronto keeps changing - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. But it always remains a very interesting city. I'm glad you enjoyed my post.

  36. Hi lilylovekin,
It would be interesting to find out who lives behind that blue door. I really love these unusual details.

    Hi stardust,
The car is undoubtedly out of service by now :) But it continues to delight the passers-by with its eccentricity.

    Hi tinajo,
I'm so glad you like the things I show. I am always delighted by your posts :)

    Hi Bengts fotoblogg,
Thank you for visiting. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for the compliment. I really wanted to show some unique details of life in Toronto. It's very sweet that you noticed that I don't have awards. I have proudly received some awards, but the only award I need is my readers :) Thank you for offering. It was lovely and thoughtful of you.
