Red Colour in Toronto
I have never seen so many red walls, rooms, and doors than at this point in my life, when I am hunting for a house. At these moments, I recall the episode from Sex and the City when Mr. Big, having left his wife, painted his walls red. It was the symbol of transitioning from a beige life to something new and exciting. Please don't think that I am against red walls - maybe someday I will change my preferences for white Scandinavian style, and then I might also paint my walls that way.
Could anybody confess to having red walls - sometime in the past, or currently?
I wish you all a great weekend.

Fun series. I especially like the red-headed girl, with red t-shirt, next to the red fire hydrant. Wow.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I've never painted any walls red.
Did you know red is nature's most dependable color? -- flowers rely on red (more than any other color) to attract the possibility of pollination, and hence survival.
Nothing subtle about RED.
Hello Olga:
ReplyDeleteFlashes of lipstick red will always be connected to that, in our view, iconic film 'Don't Look Now' starring the youthful Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland. However, that has not put us off decorating with red which we rather like to do, although we have to say in shades of deeper Burgundy rather than Scarlet.
In a previous house we painted our hall, stairs and landing 'Picture Gallery Red' which not only did it look wonderful, it was the perfect background for hanging paintings against.
That blew me away!

LOVELY post - your quirky looks at the world in colour are always a treat. Now, I have to confess to a scarlet study and a dark red/dusty pink dining room...
ReplyDeleteHi Olga!
ReplyDeleteI love red, so this post was a big hit with me!! My favorite was car. Shiny, candy apple red!
Hi Olga, i like this series, the photos are very nice
ReplyDeleteWow, lots of great red shots here! I'm not a fan of red walls, it makes a room too dark.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I love red.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic photos as usual. My brother just painted his bedroom wall red. He is single...maybe not for long!=)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos as always. My mother, many, many years ago decided to have a red walled kitchen. We we were all horrified, but the end result was stunning. Diane
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love these photos on the trend of the color red.
Greetings ornithophilous
Red passion in Spain:))
ReplyDeleteI like the color red and the photos are very beautiful. I sent some pictures of my son's house.
Greetings and good weekend.
Wonderfully red!
ReplyDeleteHere is a quote from 'Violet Jelly' when Vera the fly asks a bottle of red if it will make her beautiful:
"Just red," answers the bottle.
I love the colour red in all its forms, and all your wonderful photos today! I have a splash of red in most rooms in my house, to set off my dark wood furniture and cream walls - a red rug in the living room, a red blind in my black and white kitchen :-)
ReplyDeleteYou were already into red spotting in winter under the snow, but you are putting a lot of red into the mixture this time. Beware :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the colour red as I'm sure you realise. Coupling that with a shot of a red frog and red shoes and I'm very happy indeed! Thanks so much for your very kind comment on my blog post, it's very much appreciated. x
ReplyDeleteHello Olga,
ReplyDeleteI love these photos in their series, with a color. I remember that phase looking beautiful yellows. Sensitivity, technique and originality!
A big hug from all of the studio
That red is so saturated, it seems almost unreal.
ReplyDeleteThese are so lovely dear Olga, I love how you choose a colour theme then explore and find these wonderful images for us.
ReplyDeletexoxoxo ♡
red is a fantastic summer color , i love the first pic...
ReplyDeleteI love it when you do that: Pick a color and look around for it! Really cool. My favorite pic would have to be that of the little dog with a red collar, of course. Merci, Olga. From Nice, Veronique aka French Girl in Seattle
ReplyDeleteI have never had red walls, I also rearly wear red, maybe more in the winter. Lovely choice of photos, very good illustrating your text
ReplyDeleteI love your series of posts on how you see colour Olga. I can't say red is a favourite colour of mine so I would never paint, or even accent a room with, the colour. In a hotel I worked in many years ago, as a Receptionist in the lobby, our uniform included red blouses!! I was very happy when we eventually returned to navy suits and white blouses.
ReplyDeleteI've never painted a wall red but I chose red for the only new car I've ever had. Red is all the rage for interior decorating this year, for accessories. It's a rich red though, not flashy scarlet.
ReplyDeleteI was told that every painting needs a touch of red somewhere to bring out something essential (not that I paint). Maybe it's the same in life.
Какие сочные фотографии!
ReplyDeleteХотела спросить: а много в Торонто национальностей живёт? Насколько он этнически колоритен?
Приятных вам выходных :)
I'm wearing a bright red top today. You question got me thinking - although I really love bright red I have never used it in any form of decor. That's so weird!
ReplyDeleteI love red and wear it a lot but have never painted a wall in any of our houses this colour. Often use it as an accessory accent colour though.
ReplyDeleteRed, red, and more red. I love the color :)
ReplyDeleteand your pictures
I noticed the predominant red. It's funny. Many details of the city's red. Why do so many people love this color. For its distinctiveness, visibility (?) Thank you for your comments. Peter.
ReplyDeletefantastic study of red!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely and interesting collection of the photos containing red, Olga. I like red color needless to say about the flowers or autumn foliage, but when it comes to my outfit or housing, I like it mostly as an effect color like the lapis lazuli color suit with red shoes, scarf, or handbag. The black cat looks nice with the red collar. The red roof reminds me of a confectionary in my neighborhood: Victorian style architecture with red wall, black roof, and the white and green windows. My friend chose sheer red wall cabinet in the kitchen and it was nice coordinating with the metal color of the stainless sink and whitish gray wall. My latest post is related to the red color, too.
ReplyDeleteYoko
What cool shoes! Fantastic, Olga.
ReplyDeleteI did notice that a lot of the houses I visited in the UK had red walls, but I've never had them myself - they sort of give me nightmares.
ReplyDeletered always catches my eye
ReplyDeleteYet another wonderful set. It's less than a week since I painted a wall red the other three were beige so perhaps it doesn't count.
ReplyDeleteYeah! That's cool!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post!
Hugs.
Hello! Great post my friend! I wish you a beautiful Monday and have a nice week. Friendly greeting for you from Rio de Janeiro/Brasil. Thank you for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! this is a fantastic series
ReplyDeleteDear all,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your fascinating responses and confessions :) This weekend, I have seen yet more red doors and walls. I feel a little bit exhausted. I hope that you will all have a very fulfilling week. In the nearest future, I will share with you some discovering on the subject of how difficult it is to find real estate in Toronto.
I love red: red lipstick, red purse and shoes, red cashmere. Sometimes it can be very hard to find just the right red. Always wanted to have red wall until one of our tenants painted bedroom walls red. I found out only after he moved out. It took me three minutes, before I was heading to store. Couldn't stand it, too rich. Red front door one of my favorites, especially the shiny glossy kind.
ReplyDeleteRed is such a powerful colour, symbolizing life, sensuality and vibrancy. I really enjoy your posts that are colour themed. Your photos are so sharp and clear. Do you always carry a camera with you?
ReplyDeleteHi kopeechki,
ReplyDeleteI am very cautious about red walls. But a red door of a juicy shade can look very inviting.
Hi Ingrid,
My whole life consists of the study of colour. Even with all the information I have collected, it's never enough. The camera is heavy, so I only bring it when I'm in the mood :)
