Other People's Cats
You won't see any photos of my cat in this post. This is all other people's cats. However, the longer I live with our adopted cat, Deniska, the more I'm glad that, at one point in time, we have taken him from the shelter. I can see that love is able to perform miracles. I think that his next step would be to learn how to actually speak to us - that's how extraordinary his personality is.
My friend Irene recently adopted a cat that was abandoned by her tenant. She called me in order to receive counsel on the subject of taking care of a cat who has a lot of strange habits. I tried to tell her to hire him a butler, a persona chef, and a new masseuse.
Some of the cats in this post have owners; some don't. They all come from different countries. Sometimes, it's easy to guess which ones are cared for and which ones aren't.

I think cats are extremely photogenic . . . and I've taken makes photos where cats are "central players." It's interesting that I'm NOT a cat person (prefer labs and large dogs.) As much as I'd rather shoots cats, I prefer not to live with them.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful.
Cats have such personalities. I don’t think I could live without cats in my life. We had two cats but one of them passed away a month ago. I still cannot talk about it. She was a Korat, a breed from Thailand, grey cat with emerald eyes. Her name was Mitsou. She was on my post last October – the very last photo, here is the link: http://avagabonde.blogspot.com/2011/10/blog-intermission-entracte-no16-cat-and.html. Our remaining cat, Cody, is at the top of the post and is still with us, fortunately.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creatures! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like them all, Olga. Mine is all black, with green eyes. Awesome personality. He rules the household -and that includes the dog! Bon weekend my friend. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
What lovely photos of cats. My cat, Ulysse is a gorgeous black cat with golden eyes who we rescued from the rescue centre. He is the boss of the road now and keeps all the other cats in line, but at home he's a softy and totally adorable.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cats...
ReplyDeleteBest regards from Paris,
Pierre
Love these...the 5th one down reminds me of my cat Toulouse. She is no longer with me but thanks for reminding me of her today. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh Olga you have made my day with these photos, every single one pulls at my heart strings. Your words on darling Deniska say it all, that is how I felt too about adopting my Tia Maria and Murphy Harold all those years ago. They enriched my life with their love.
ReplyDeleteI am catsitting the little tabby kitten Juno again, and I will be so sad when she goes home to her owners. She too has stolen my heart. She makes little chirrrrp-ing noises all the time as she strives to communicate with me. Me? well I have always talked constantly to my cats.
Thanks you for such a special post, and give that handsome Denis a little scratch behind his ears from his admirer. X
I love cats!! BTW, that cat in the 8th photo looks scary XD
ReplyDeleteHai avuto una bella idea a fotografare i gatti d'altri...non ci avevo mai pensato di fare un unico post su questo...brava, le foto sono molto belle! Ciao Cri : )
ReplyDeleteCats are such beautiful animals and wonderful companions! Good for you, Olga, for taking in a shelter cat! I have had a number of shelter cats in the past 30 years and each one of them has been so different and so special. Two of them -- Timmy, a Burmese whom I adopted as a kitten (with his brother Gus) in 1998 and who died of tainted cat food in 2007 and Marina, a flame-point Siamese whom I adopted as a two-year-old in 2008 and who died of leukemia in 2010 -- actually worked with me in my psychotherapy practice -- helping to comfort anxious or depressed patients or, in Marina's case, to calm down families in conflict. Marina had been relinquished by two other families when I first saw her -- one family gave her up because they had a baby and thus no time for her and the next family gave her up because she was too "needy". (She loved to cuddle). Even though my time with Marina was short (we had her slightly less than two years before her death) and my time with Timmy was cut tragically short, my life was forever enriched by these two wonderful cats -- and my days continue to be blessed with the company of Gus (Timmy's brother) who is now 14, Maggie, 5, and Sweet Pea, 2 -- rescue cats all. When you adopt a homeless animal -- cat or dog -- you not only save a life -- but you greatly enrich your own!
ReplyDeleteI love cats and enjoyed these images very much Olga....

ReplyDeleteOlga,
ReplyDeleteCats are the creatures who enjoy freedom the most and are the geniuses to find the most comfortable places. I remember my cat was taking a nap in the coolest windy place in summer and the warmest place in winter. More than 15 years past and still we miss him.
I smiled so many times to see the last illustration. Fuuuuny!
Have a great week.

What a great collection of photos, they are brilliant. Sadly Nigel is allergic to cats, when I got married mine all found a home with my mother :( They have such amazing personalities and everyone is different. Diane
ReplyDeleteI would if I wasn't allergic! And my hubby and kids weren't allergic!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for some exquisite photos. I loved the magnolia the best!
We had to get rid of our two cats to another home when one of our daughters turned out to be allergic. I still miss them.
ReplyDeleteI did love the cartoon of the Japanese cat! I am still smiling when I think of it.
I love cats, i really do, they are amazing
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm no lover of cats, I think your pictures are very good. You capture the essence of those felines.
