Personally I like a random, seemingly untamed and haphazard quality in the garden, which might sound my excuse though. I look forward to seeing the seasonal beauty of your front yard or the likes when you fully get mutated into a homeowner.

Yokostardusthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10684501661629146087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3682991289355439012.post-33221973250287346212012-03-28T00:22:24.515-04:002012-03-28T00:22:24.515-04:00Well, at least you have a space defined in the bou...Well, at least you have a space defined in the boundaries of your home, and taht is a good thing regardless of how neighbours look at how you made use of it. I'm sure the people who owned are place before us did a lot more work in the garden and drive than we do but I'm not fussed what the neighbours think. I hope the mutation is a good one. I have lived in all sorts of dwellings. I suppose it's up to the individual how they like to live n'est pas? We live in a townhouse in Las Vegas. It feels like a cross between an apartment and a house. We live in a gated community(common in Las Vegas) w/a community pool and an HOA with rules. We can only be creative inside our place. It's somewhat of a transient neighborhood. Mostly retirees, entertainers from the strip, and part-timers. I'm not sure what category we would be under? We haven't had any problems...it's a good home base for nomads. ;)Sandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00851630568558694769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3682991289355439012.post-47714174612719173092012-03-23T06:15:38.529-04:002012-03-23T06:15:38.529-04:00So, you've gone to the darkside then, have you...So, you've gone to the darkside then, have you :). We are also sensiteive to change of season, but maybe in different way. In passing seasons we see beauty. Now we have a house here in Georgia, but we decided not to be in a “subdivision” where there are rules. We have 1 ½ acre and many trees around the house. The house can hardly be seen from any sides. My husband is a professional environmentalist – we don’t have a lawn. We have wildflowers, local trees and shrubs. We only have flower planters near the back patio. It is only now, more recently, that we see all of those things which, inhabiting an apartment, one is liberated from, not least the look on the faces of the neighbours when something does not quite conform to their expectations. After being a homeowner in American suburbia for the past 15 years, I can't wait to go back to a [spacious]condo downtown once my son is in college. Congratulations Olga, you have now joined the ranks of all the folks who slave away on weekends and breaks to maw the lawn; paint the fence; pull out weeds; and the list goes on. In France, I love that most houses are private and hidden behind hedges and fences, so who cares if your front yard does not look immaculate? Here in North America, it's best for everyone to enjoy an unobstructed view of your sprawling estate. Good luck, and do get those tools. You will need them!!! ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)French Girl in Seattlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14347995356689205203noreply@blogger.com
